The star has given the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound honor winnings to the MVT, which functions to save the UK's independent concert spaces.

He was presented with the cheque on mid-October as his third album his work was declared the outstanding release of the previous year.

He has decided to give the cash to the trust, in acknowledgment of the crucial part local spots had in his early career.

"As an artist would not have achieved this success if it weren't for all the gigs I performed around the area, and beyond, when I was beginning," stated Fender. "These spaces are renowned, but they are in difficulty."

From early 2023 onward, more than 150 of these spaces have shut down – about 16 percent of the whole industry in the UK.

In the last year, top acts like Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the Music Venues Trust in its efforts to help venues survive, by including a modest fee to their ticket costs, which benefits smaller concert halls.

Sam Fender also took part, raising in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to assist numerous local spots across Britain.

The money supported spaces that were dealing with imminent closure due to difficulties stemming from floods, fires and family tragedies, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and noise complaints.

Other venues were granted funding support in modernizing infrastructure and gear that positively impacted musicians and audiences.

"The idea that revenue from performances in big venues backs the independent spots, where it kicks off for artists like me, is just logical," Sam Fender has stated.

The musician is among several artists to give his Mercury Prize prize money to charitable organizations.

When they won the prize in the mid-90s for their album the album, lead singer Cocker announced that the band would give their winnings to the organization War Child.

That year, artist she shared her bounty across multiple organizations, like the children's charity and a Sickle Cell charity.

"And I contributed a thousand pounds to the center, to their classes, because I practiced gymnastics when I was younger and they needed updated gear," she shared with outlets.

Previously, they contributed their funds to the youth organization that developed their group, in addition to other grassroots music organisations.

Also the 1994 recipients M People gave their winnings to a MS organization after a acquaintance was diagnosed the condition.

"Receiving the award was sufficient," stated singer Heather Small. "The prize was the cherry on top but we could do without the extra, because we had the main prize. So our winning impacted somebody else's life."

In the past week, the MVT revealed it had saved a couple of small stages in the South East, by bringing them into local control.

The first in the city and the other in the city were purchased under the community ownership initiative, which is funded by Arts Council England and supporters who acquire "shares" in the properties.
