19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player secured his first championship for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a difficult year, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's first championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since spring of the previous year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has secured 21 championships at 21 various competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

His retrieving approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had led commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an better serve.

The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a close third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
